Monday Soccer Roundups

When Frankenmuth got a shot on goal, it went in, as the Eagles overcame a 1-0 deficit at the half to beat North Branch 3-2 in boys soccer on the road Monday.
Kramer Trombley knotted the score at 1 in the second half, while Cameron Lail made it 2-1 Eagles and Lucas Bade's header into the net served as the insurance goal since the Broncos added their final marker with six minutes left. Trombley is a midfielder, Lail is a striker and Bade is a defender, meaning Frankenmuth was versatile, if not unpredictable, on offense.
"I'm proud of the guys to come from behind in less than ideal circumstances," said Frankenmuth coach John Ayala, whose team is now 12-2 overall and, most importantly, 9-0 in the Tri-Valley East. "Because of the terrible playing conditions, many times both teams had their attacks stymied. There was standing water on the field."
It was the second Frankenmuth win of the season over North Branch, and the Eagles wrap up their league schedule with remaining games against Caro, Birch Run and Essexville Garber.

The Caro soccer team had a rough time against both Saginaw Valley Lutheran and the weather. The Tigers were defeated by the Chargers 6-1 in a game played in very rainy conditions.
"The conditions were not good, it was windy and raining," Caro coach Jay Riley said. "We started slow in the second half before we were able to get a goal." According to Riley, one of the reasons the Chargers pulled out to a 3-0 lead by half time was the wind blowing in their favor.
Tanner Torrez picked up the Tigers lone goal of the game in the second half. He was assisted by James McAlloon. Gabe Raymer was in goal for Caro and picked up 14 saves.
With the loss, the Tigers are now 5-10 overall and 3-6 in league play.

Senior Tyler Phillips and freshman Kyle Koch each scored their first career boys varsity soccer goals, contributing to a 10-4 Millington victory over visiting Essexville Garber on Monday. Jimmy Chrysler's three goals and two assists paced the Cardinals, while Justin Garrett and Koch each finished with two goals and an assist.
