Playoffs Part G

Here is the Girls districts with my picks and some sort of explaination. District 57-B - Millington Caro Cros-Lex Millington North Branch Vassar Yale Deja Vu this is not. The girls district has the same teams and same place as the boys. I hate to have to make a pick here. As of Tuesday night, none of the teams have a winning record. Needless to say this district maybe a yawner, the coin flip says the winner is.......Cros-Lex over Vassar for the second time this year. District 58-B - Frankenmuth Bangor John Glenn Bridgeport Essexville-Garber Frankenmuth Freeland Pinconning This one is actually quite easy. Outside of Frankenmuth, only John Glenn and Garber will put on a good show. Garber beat John Glenn earlier in the season and Frankenmuth held Garber to a season low 13 points. Well the Eagles should win a boys and girls district this year. District 81-C - Sandusky Brown City Burton-Bentley Dryden Marlette Memphis Sandusky Unlike the Millington district, every school in this dist

Boys AP Polls

The new AP polls are out today. The Frankenmuth boys are ranked #6 in Class B. The Reese Rockets are #4 in Class C, and USA Patriots #7 in Class C. The showdown this Friday will be one for the ages, not only for the conference lead but also probably who will stay ranked in the state.

Playoffs

Okay, my first post here I am going to go through each boy's district and predict a winner. I hope everyone will pick their winner as well, and we will see how close we come in March. Will try to work on girl's districts later in the week. District 57-B - Millington Caro Cros - Lex Millington North Branch Vassar Yale Millington is having the best year of anyone is this district. Unless something drastic happens they should win this district. District 58-B - Essexville - Garber Bangor John Glenn Bridgeport Essexville - Garber Frankenmuth Freeland Pinconning Frankenmuth is having a memorable season, but they should get a good push from Bridgeport who is improving with every game. District 81-C - Marlette Brown City Bentley Dryden Memphis Marlette Sandusky Brown City is the best team in this district even though Bentley is having a good year. Bentley though was blown out by both Beecher and Goodrich. District 89-C - Carrollton Carrollton Mayville Reese Buena Vista Nouvel Valle

Ch-ch-ch-changes

There's going to be some changes around here. The blog is going to be undergoing a few changes in the next upcoming weeks. First, I'm going to be adding a few more contributors. If you live in the area, and if you followed the adventures of the Pigskin Prophets in the Advertiser during football season, then you'll recognize the names. This needs to happen, since I anticipate being very busy in the next couple of weeks, and I don't want the few readers who enjoy this blog to have to suffer without. The main reason for this change is this....since the cat's out of the bag (so to speak) and everyone will hear the announcement on tonight's pre-game show....starting Monday, January 14th, I will taking over as the next Sports Editor at The County Press newspaper in Lapeer. This is an exciting opportunity for me and my family. As of now, I have no plans on leaving the area where I currently live, but who knows what the future holds. The reason I assume that I wil

Birthday Blues!

Another day older and deeper in debt. I ran into a few area coaches last night while we were out celebrating my 34th birthday. My wife and I, along with some friends and family, went to Tiffany's in Frankenmuth were I saw Vassar basketball coach Chuch Fabbro enjoying dinner with Vulcan football coach Jason Kiss. My party of friends ended up having a great time. We went and watched Rev. Right Time play at Captain Hooks.....all in all, it was a pretty good night! Never give up! Seems like the end of the Cass City-USA boy's basketball game ended in a little controversy on Friday night. Trailing by nine points with under a minute left to play, Red Hawks coach Aaron Fernald apparently made the decision to throw in the towel, allowing the Patriots to kill the clock to get the win. I don't care how terrible the Red Hawks offense had been performing up to that point in the game; there is absolutely no excuse for giving up! What a horrible message to send to your players....that

Happy New Year!!

Been quiet around here. I've been under a self-imposed sabattical around here lately. With not much going on in the area as far as sports are concerned, and with it being the holiday season and all....I just decided to take a break from posting for a week or two. But now with the new year here, and with the one or two people out there who hopefully read this crap patiently waiting for more non-sensical ramblings from my mind.....well, I guess that means we're back in the saddle again. Furno's in. After years of being ignored by those in charge, Millington head football coach Tim Furno is finally getting a little 'long-overdue' repect. This April, Furno will be among the 2008 honorees when he is inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held at Chrysler Arena in Ann Arbor. As a former Millington football player, all I can say is that it's about damn time! Coach Furno has been the head man for the Cardin
