Chris Ogryski

reprinted from the Huron Daily Tribune Christopher A. Ogryski Mr. Christopher A. Ogryski, 34 of Ubly, passed away January 28, 2010. He was born on March 14, 1975 in Royal Oak to Alan and Cathleen (Galek) Ogryski. He lived in Sterling Heights for 18 years. He married Jill Kubacki on July 4, 1998 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Chris graduated from Fillmore Elementary School and Sterling Heights High School. He attended Michigan State University. He was employed at Service Merchandise and Thumb Tool. He was a manager for the Port Huron area 7-11 stores. He was a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church in Ubly since 1998. Chris was a sports writer for the Huron County Press from 2002 to 2008 when he became editor. He belonged to the Thumb Sports Writers Association. He was a member of the Huron County Democratic Party. He enjoyed photography, writing, pizza, poker, playing euchre with James Peters "JP" and spending time with his family. Chris is survived by hi

Here is Tuscola County's best of the best from the hardcourt this past week. Marlette - Dillon Howe and Alex Storm led the Red Raider charge as they defeated Mayville this past week. Howe and Storm each scored 12 points. Nick Armstrong added 10 points. Amara Wilson was the Captain of the Ship this week as she dropped 27 points in a win over Mayville. Jenna Hirsch scored 17 points. USA - The Patriot Big Men proved too much for Bad Axe this week as Clint Krueger scored 19 points and Jake Holland added 12 points in the Patriot victory. Chelsey Ewald added 10 points in the Lady Patroit loss to Bad Axe. Cass City - Justin Ketterer led the Red Hawk flight this week with 31 points, including 27 in a victory over Bad Axe. Reese 53 - Cass City 46 - The Red Hawks scored half of their points in the fourth quarter to make the game close. Reese was led by Josh Pickell's 15 points. Ethan Stockmeyer scored 13 and Adam Lefler added 11 points. Reese improves to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the GTC-West. Cass City was led by Alex Varney's game-high 19 points. Cameron Dunnuck added 10 points. The loss drops Cass City's record to 1-8 and 0-4. Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port 46 - Vassar 37 - The Lakers figured out a way to beat Vassar. Keep Troy Hecht under 10 points. The Laker held Hecht to just four points and 12 rebounds and become the only team to hold Hecht to single-digit scoring this season. Ryan Amend led the team with 17 points. The loss drops Vassar to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the GTC-West. Girls Kingston 55 - Dryden 27 - Chelsea Ruggles led 11 Lady Cardinals who scored with eight points. Kingston improves to 9-4 overall and 8-4 in the NCTL-South. Essexville-Garber 40 - Millington 28 - The Lady Cardinals scoring woes continued as they drop a conference game at home. Millington averages just 33.3 points per game, the lowest output by any team in the TVC-East. Rachel Lawe led Millington with seven points, seven rebounds, and four steals. Chelsey Parker added six points and 11 rebounds. Millington drops to 3-9 overall and 2-5 in the TVC-East. Boys Millington 76 - Essexville-Garber 49 - Millington ended Garber's five-game winning streak with a big conference victory. Here is the Best of the Best of the past week our - Celebrity Cagers. Caro - Tommy Matuszak led the Tigers with 26 points in Caro's two losses. Emily Koehler scored 11 points the Lady Tigers only game of the week. Owendale-Gagetown - Nick Zaleski was "The Big Dog" in three games this week, all victories. Zaleski scored 56 points, including two 20 point performances. Ryan Francis added 43 points. Millington - Kyle Currie led the Cardinals with 27 points in a week which saw the Cardinals split their two games. Cameron Wilson scored 25 points for Millington. Girls Frankenmuth 64 - Caro 28 - The Lady Eagles stay undefeated and in first place in TVC-East play. Taylor Wood scored 11 points, while Sam Cormier added 10 points and five assists in the win. Emily Koehler led Caro with 11 points. North Branch 42 - Millington 33 - North Branch outscored Millington by nine points in the second half for the victory. Samantha Waterman paced the Lady Broncos with 15 points. North Branch is now 5-1 in the TVC-East, 1/2 game behind Frankenmuth.
