Millington - Alexis Reinert had 12 points and eight rebounds in the Cardinal's only game this week. Rachel Lawe had 10 points and eight rebounds, while Chelsea Parker had 10 points and six rebounds. Kyle Currie led the way for the boy's squad this week. In the Cardinal's two victories Currie had 45 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and five steals. Cameron Wilson scored 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Frankenmuth - Jenny McCain scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Lady Eagles only game this week.

Kingston - The Lady Cardinals won two game this week, while only allowing 52 points. Megan James, Alison Lester, Emily Chambers, Quinn Dailey, and Chelsea Leach all had a solid week. The boy's squad also had a perfect week, picking up two wins. Joe Stauel, Nolan Kolacz, Josh Wenzlaff, and Taylor Nicol led the way to perfection.

Caro - Jared Vinson, Jasen Rendon, and Pat Bishop all had 15 points for the Tigers in their only game.

USA - Sami Eisengruber scored 15 points for the Lady Patriots in their loss to Sandusky. Josh Lackie led the boy's squad with 37 points as his team lost a game and won a game this week. Peter Gacik added 23 points.

Vassar - Hilary MacKay scored 28 points this week as the Lady Vulcans split their two games this week. Troy Hecht scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the boy's only game this week - a victory. Ryan Amend and Jamison Knudsen each scored 10 points.

North Branch - Samantha Waterman scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Lady Broncos handed Essexville-Garber their first loss. Ryan Kosko scored 36 points on the week as the boys split their games.

Cass City - Alex Varney scored 22 points in the his teams two losses.

Reese - Josh Pickell scored 32 points and dished out 11 assists this week in a win and a loss.

Mayville - Chelsea Roehl scored 33 points in a week which saw the Lady Wildcats loss their first game of the season. Williams Henderson led the boy's squad with 15 points in their two losses.

This week's Tabloid Celebrities of the Week are ........... all Cardinals. Kyle Curre of Millington scored 45 points while leading his team to two victories, including their first conference victory in over one year. The girl's celebrity is the Kingston girl's squad for their great defensive week - allowing only 54 points during the week. Congrats Cardinals and watch out for the paprazzi.

Still talkin' football

First top ten of the year. After Friday's opening games, the TCA released it's first Area Top ten of the young season. In association with four area coaches, representing the four area conferences, along with the sports staff of the TCA, here it is: 1. Millington (1-0) 53 pts (2) 2. Reese (1-0) 52 pts (2) 3. USA (1-0) 45 pts 4. Frankenmuth (1-0) 37 pts (1) 5. Birch Run (1-0) 32 pts (1) 6. Marlette (1-0) 19 pts 7. Ubly (0-1) 17 pts 7. Harbor Beach (1-0) 17 pts 9. Cass City (1-0) 12 pts 10. Garber (1-0) 11 pts All of this will ofcourse settle itself out as the week goes on, but I think the biggest surprise is the fall of Ubly after the opening game loss to USA. Word out of the Thumb is that Bearcat QB Jordan Kaufman broke his collarbone and is out for 7 to 8 weeks, which essentially is the entire season. Ubly must now rely upon a sophomore quarterback to lead them in the GTE, which could open things up for Harbor Beach and Marlette to take the reigns in the conference. As for

The Big Game.

Here it is. Well, it's here...the game that everyone around here has been looking forward to all season long. Frankenmuth at Millington. Both teams are 7-0 (6-0 TVC-E) and the Cardinals and the Eagles could not be more evenly matched. They have the exact same number of playoff points (85.714) at this point of the season; both teams blew out Vassar and held the Vulcans without a defensive TD (kickoff return against the Eagles and punt return vs the Cards); both teams blew out Bridgeport and North Branch. And both teams had to play their best to hold off Garber (Muth won 17-7 at Muth while Millington won 20-14 at Garber). One game where things were different was when both played Birch Run. Muth had to use a last minute field goal to win 23-20 while Millington blew out the Panther 45-17, both games played in Birch Run.
