Thursday Night In Tuscola County

In girls action on Thursday, Vassar defeated Cass City 52-36. The Lady Vulcans were led by Amberly Hauger's 20 points and seven rebounds. Kayla Verbeek contributed a double-double in the win with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jennica Richards added 16 points in the loss. With the win, Vassar improves to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the GTC-West. The loss drops Cass City to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in the West.

Reese used a 23-12 third quarter to defeat USA 59-52. Amber Gotham led Reese with 21 points, while Jade Ackerman added 15. Dani Gremel scored 21 points for USA, with Jillian Williamson adding 13. Reese takes sole possession of first place in the West improving to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in league play. The loss drops USA to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the West.

Mayville picked up their first league win of the year with a 49-46 victory over Deckerville. Briann Summersett led the way with 12 points and eight rebounds, as Chelsea LaBair contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. Mayville improves to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the GTC-East.

In boys action, the Bulldogs of Owendale-Gagetown lost to Peck 47-42. Ryan Francis was the "Top Dog" with 13 points. The loss drops Owendale-Gagetown to 5-2 overall and 5-2 in the NCTL-North.
