Hump Day Basketball

In girls action this evening, Reese defeated Bad Axe 67-29. The Lady Rockets were led by Jade Ackerman's 22 points, five rebounds, and four steals. Amber Gotham contributed with 11 points and five steals. Reese improves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the Greater Thumb West tied with USA for first place.

USA defeated Vassar by a score of 37-33. Dani Gremel of USA had a game-high 14 points in the low-scoring contest. Vassar's Kayla Verbeeck scored 11 in the losing effort. USA improves to 6-2 overall, while Vassar falls to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Caro dropped a non-league game to Bay City John Glenn, by a score of 47-32. The Tiger's Vanessa Taylor scored 8 points in the loss. Caro drops to 2-6 overall.

Brown City defeated Mayville by a score of 54-41. Chelsea Roehl and Chelsea LaBair led the way for the Wildcats with 16 and 11 points respectivly. Mayville drops to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Greater Thumb East. Brown City sits atop the East with a 9-1 overall record and 4-0 league record.

Cass City won it's second consecutive game by defeating Bay City All Saints 46-41. The win moves Cass City's record to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the Greather Thumb West. Aleigh Kappen scored a game-high 19 points in the victory. The Red Hawks are tied with Laker High for third place.

Marlette defeated Deckerville by a score of 51-36. Amara Wilson of the Red Raiders led all scorers with 23 points. Marlette improves to 2-6 overall and sits alone in third place in the Greater Thumb East with a 2-1 record. With the loss Deckerville drops to 3-4 and 0-2.

In boys action, Caro used the charity stripe to defeat Bay City John Glenn by a score of 51-46. The Tigers finished the night 19-25 at the free throw line. Andrew LaPointe led the way with 12 points, while R.J. Fritz and Caleb Likavoli each had 10. Caro's win improves their overall record to 4-3.
