Playoffs Part G

Here is the Girls districts with my picks and some sort of explaination.

District 57-B - Millington
Caro
Cros-Lex
Millington
North Branch
Vassar
Yale

Deja Vu this is not. The girls district has the same teams and same place as the boys. I hate to have to make a pick here. As of Tuesday night, none of the teams have a winning record. Needless to say this district maybe a yawner, the coin flip says the winner is.......Cros-Lex over Vassar for the second time this year.

District 58-B - Frankenmuth
Bangor John Glenn
Bridgeport
Essexville-Garber
Frankenmuth
Freeland
Pinconning

This one is actually quite easy. Outside of Frankenmuth, only John Glenn and Garber will put on a good show. Garber beat John Glenn earlier in the season and Frankenmuth held Garber to a season low 13 points. Well the Eagles should win a boys and girls district this year.

District 81-C - Sandusky
Brown City
Burton-Bentley
Dryden
Marlette
Memphis
Sandusky

Unlike the Millington district, every school in this district has a winning record. Top to bottom this is a very competitve district, but the best team is Sandusky. Winning the district in their home gym will just make it that much sweeter for DeMott and company.

District 89-C - Carrollton
Carrollton
Mayville
Reese
Buena Vista
Nouvel Catholic Central
Valley Lutheran

This district has the #1 (Nouvel) and #6 (Valley Lutheran) teams in the state as of the latest AP rankings. The rest of the teams are hovering somewhere around .500. I will flip a coin and pick... the Lutherans over the Catholics.

District 90-C - Laker High
Bad Axe
Cass City
Laker High
Harbor Beach
Ubly
USA

Outside of the top two schools listed, this is a very competitive district as well. USA could pull off some upsets. Laker and Harbor Beach are strong, but look for Ubly to pick up the Greater Thumb East to pick up their 2nd district title.

District 112-D - Deckerville
Carsonville-Port Sanilliac
Deckerville
Kimball New Life
Kingston
Marine City Cardinal Mooney
Peck

Coach Lester may not like me saying this: The Lady Cardinals are playing the best basketball in this district, and should come away with the championship.

District 113-D - Akron-Fairgrove
Akron-Fairgrove
Bay City All-Saints
Caseville
Kinde-North Huron
Owendale-Gagetown
Port Hope

Look for Port Hope to win this district with All-Saints putting up a good fight.

There it is, let us know what you think!

I agree that this is a weak district, but Vassar actually is an OK team when they are on. So I will take them

District 58-B - Frankenmuth
Bangor John Glenn
Bridgeport
Essexville-Garber
Frankenmuth
Freeland
Pinconning

I agree Frankenmuth took a step back with the loss to Birch Run and the defense isn't as "solid" as before (saying that tounge in cheek, you gotta be kidding when a team goes from giving up 53 points in four games to "just" the low 40s in their last win.

District 81-C - Sandusky
Brown City
Burton-Bentley
Dryden
Marlette
Memphis
Sandusky

Marlette could be scary if they get on track and be the team they are capable of being, but VanConant and DeMott are major threats, I'll go with Sandusky

District 89-C - Carrollton
Carrollton
Mayville
Reese
Buena Vista
Nouvel Catholic Central
Valley Lutheran

Reese is a good, team, but not in the caliber of the two teams ranked in the state. I'll take NCC because of Jenny Ryan.

District 90-C - Laker High
Bad Axe
Cass City
Laker High
Harbor Beach
Ubly
USA

USA is coming along, but like Reese, they are in a very tough district. Laker will cause damage...like the Reese boys, they are a complete team. The GT East could get a winner here, especially with the way Leinprandt is playing this season. I will go with Ubly.

District 112-D - Deckerville
Carsonville-Port Sanilliac
Deckerville
Kimball New Life
Kingston
Marine City Cardinal Mooney
Peck

I agree with Christian, this is going to be the Cardinals district to lose.

District 113-D - Akron-Fairgrove
Akron-Fairgrove
Bay City All-Saints
Caseville
Kinde-North Huron
Owendale-Gagetown
Port Hope

Owen-Gage has disapointed me this season. Port Hope has been streaky, but they have talent with the Iselers and Koglins...I'll take the Stars.
It is tough to pick against Nouvel, since they are the defending state champs with Ryan, and more of the corp team back. I take them, even though I would mind seeing them lose.

Thank you for your vote of confidence. Marine City Cardinal Mooney is loaded and should be the favorite, but our intentions are to go over and win.
