I'm trying to stay up to date

I know, I know, I need to try to write more. My goal was everyday, but I was sick for the last week. Between working way too many hours at work, I'm also foolishly taking nine credits this semester at UM-Flint, all in a vain effort to try and finish my Master's Degree by May, so my time has been a little tight.

Redford blows up. I went to the North Branch-Frankenmuth game tonight, and it was a great game. Bred Redford had the hot hand, as the junior guard dropped in 48 points, yet saw the Broncos pull out a 91-82 victory.
Redford scored 20 in the first half, 28 in the second; he was 17-of-18 from the free throw line and nailed seven three-pointers for the Eagles, but when the game was on the line, Redford was on the bench.
With 47 seconds left, and with North Branch's Zac Heuter made the first half of a one-and-one, making the score 84-80 in favor of the Broncos. On the miss, Redford was going for the rebound and he ended up rolling his ankle on Heuter's foot. Redford was on the court for almost a minute, writhing in pain, and when they carried him to the bench, it was obvious that the kid was hurting.
The game featured 19 lead changes; North Branch led 24-23 after one...the game was tied at 40 at the half and was tied at 60 at the end of the third.
The whole game story is one the TCA's website.
I was really impressed with NB's Zac Heuter. The 6-7 junior must easily tip the scales at more than 260 pounds, yet he has quick feet, a good post move, and he goes up strong. I have seen him play twice and I have yet to see him try a fade away from the post. Heuter put up 27 on the Eagles, and he tallied 33 in a loss to Swan Valley on Friday.
With his recent play, coupled with that of the recent turn for the worse it seems like every player in the TCA's area has taken, Heuter looks more and more like a definite first teamer in the area.
Along with Redford (the only sure thing for the team) it looks like two of the six spots might be taken.

Who wants to be the GTW champ? It seems that no one wants the GTW title. USA was pummeled tonight by BCAS, 80-48. This after the Patriots beat Reese on Friday night. Cass City also lost tonight to Bad Axe.
What is going on? Why is it that no team in the conference can pull ahead?
It appears that coach Fernald of Cass City was correct when he told me earlier in the season that the GTW was down this year. He said that he saw the conference this year as a bad group of teams that were, for some reason or another, just in one of those rare years where every team was mediocre.
It looks like he was right.

National signing day. Three players from North Branch are expected to sign letters of intent tomorrow.
Brandin Friske is going to CMU while Duncan Bone and and Spencer Baker are signing with Northwood.
Jay Morse of Millington is signing with SVSU.
Alma has offered a spot to Owen-Gage's Grant Champagne.
The big surprise is that no one has offered a scholarship to Reese's Corbin Oldenburg. This one has really shocked me.
Oldenburg was one of the best players in our area. He was first team All-Thumb, made the Saginaw News Dream Team, was first team defense in the TCA. Oldenburg is a great athlete who could help out any of the teams in the GLIAC. These teams are making a mistake by letting a good athlete slip through their fingers.

Top Ten Hoops (TCA area): My opinion:
1. Kingston (14-0) Their record justifies their ranking.
2. Frankenmuth (9-5) Redford and Co. are still a good team.
3. North Branch (8-7) Broncos impress with win over 'Muth.
4. (tie) USA (11-3)
Reese (10-3)
Cass City (10-4)
7. Vassar (5-9) Recent three game win streak helped.
8. Marlette (5-7) Comment continues to shine for Raiders.
9. Owen-Gage (8-4) Bulldogs are going to win NCTL North.
10. Millington (5-9) Cardinals continue to slide.
