Coaching Change in Millington

Word out of Millington is that Walt Kujat will not be on the sidelines next year for the boys basketball team. Kujat, a Millington alum, recently completed his fourth year as the head coach of the Cardinals. Kujat's 2007-2008 team won a District title and won Millington's first-ever game in the regionals. The Cardinals finished the 2008-2009 season with a 3-19 record.

That's too bad. From what I saw, Walt seemed to know what he was doing and worked hard with his kids. It's amazing how a lack of talent and/or work ethic (among the players) can make a bad coach out of someone people used to think was good. That's a tough place to field good boys basketball teams (as long as the powers that be are still pushing football, football, football)!

Too bad. Walt appeared to put a great deal of effort into building a program. It also appeared that he is the type of coach that you would want for the kids.

Walt is a good man and that is too bad. He is respected by alot of people. The team this year was extremely low on talent. He was the same coach that was at a regional final last year and lost to the eventual state runner up. (Powers) What was the reason? Kids quitting? He worked extremely hard with the youth program through the church. I'm a local person and I think it's a sad day we kind of hosed one of our own. AD may be a little too hands on?
