TCS 'Thumb Top Five'

Who's No. 1?
Here's the first power five ranking for the Tuscola County Sports Blog site....

1. Millington (4-0): Cards have faced the toughest schedule so far. A win over Garber this Friday night would only solidify the Cardinals grip on this spot.

2. Cros-Lex (4-0): The Pioneers have been dominating teams so far this season. Coach VanderMaas and his team face their toughest opponent so far this Friday night when they travel to 3-1 Almont.

3. Ubly (4-0): Bearcats seem to be everyone's favorite, but the fact is, they have not been challenged so far this season. Upcoming games against Vassar and Deckerville should clarify how good Ubly can be.

4. Cass City (4-0): Red Hawks have been impressive thus far in the season. Cass City still has games left against Reese, Vassar and Almont, so a 9-0 season would be very impressive.

5. Deckerville (4-0): The Eagles keep showing everyone why the NCTL won't let them in. Should be 6-0 when they face Ubly on 10/10.

Another Podcast on deck. Tonight is the night. Hard to believe that we are already in Week 5 of the high school football season. But since it is Wednesday, tonight is the night when the 'Friday Night Round Table' gathers at Studio 210 in the Overlook Lounge to record another pre-game show and podcast.
The shows seem to be gathering a lot of weekly listeners, which is great. Don't forget....if you are a regular listener, and you hear something on the show you do or do not agree with, or if you want us to discuss a comment you might have......either email the blog or make a phone call to the blog and leave a message.
Both the email and the blog's phone number are listed on the main page of the TCS blog. Come on!! We want to hear from you.

Welcome to the blog. I almost forgot to mention this, but the TCS blog welcomes another member and contributor in Chad Wingert. Chad joined the blog as a contributor almost two weeks ago, and we at the TCS blog are proud to have him on board. You have heard him on the pre-game show, and he is currently working at the Advertiser, so Chad is very familiar with the area and with high school sports in the Tuscola County area. Chad is a Mayville alumni, and anyone familiar with that town will ofcourse recognize his last name, as Wingert's Supermarket is the best place in Mayville to buy anything and everything under the sun.
Welcome to the blog, Chad.

Who's No.1 in volleyball? We were going to rank volleyball teams, but it seems like a waste of time, since the No.1 team in the area would undoubtedly be North Branch. The Broncos are off to a 31-1 start and have already won four tournament titles. They are the No.1 team in the state in Class B, and are the favorites to win the state title. Who are No's 2-5? I don't know. Let's hear from the readers how they would rank the remaining Tuscola County area teams.

Ubly hasn't been challenged? They wiped out a healthy USA. USA smacked BCAS around the next week before the injury bug hit them. Then the Bearcats crushed Marlette leading 41-0 at half. The Raiders knocked off Reese the following week. Ah, I guess your right, they haven't been challenged.

Vassar could be a test as they have the most potent offense the 'cats will have played against so far.

Andy, where are you now? Lapeer? I guess your not going to see the Bearcats for awhile.

I stand by it....as I said, the next two weeks will be telling for Ubly.
Fact is, Ubly four wins came against teams that are, for the most part, in down years.
Their opponents are a combined 6-10 on the season, with three of those wins coming from Marlette.
Ubly just had the unfortune of playing Mayville, Harbor Beach and USA at the beginning of their schedule rather than later.
