TWO TEAMS ADVANCE

Both USA and North Branch advance to the state semi-finals after victories last night.
What a gift to host a State quarterfinal game as the gym was loud and packed to the brim. North Branch faced maybe their biggest test of the post season in Lakewood. Facing a six point deficit in the second set, the Broncos battled their way back to grab a 25-20 win, and also kept their undefeated postseason streak in tact.
Thats right, North Branch has yet to lose a single game, sweeping all four of their opponents, including Lakewood (25-15, 25-20, 25-19).

USA struggled out of the gate, dropping the first two matches. But the Patriots went on a late tear, rattling off three straight wins and beating Allen Park Cabrini in a five game thriller (20-25, 15-25, 25-21, 25-12 ,15-11).

Both teams will now play in Battle Creek on Thusday, with USA (33-7-7) taking on Schoolcraft (40-9-2) at 2 p.m. and North Branch (70-4) will take the floor against Fruitport (45-10) at 7:15 pm.

Look for updates on Thursday from Battle Creek on both USA and North Branch.

wheres all the love for the ubly bearcats from u guys. ubly never gets support from the other counties papers just the schools support us. not the papers in fact ubly had to use cass citys football field the other day because of the snow we got i quess the tuscola county schools will do the supporting not you guys. from a very dissappointed bearcat supporter

The name of the blog is Tuscola County Sport. We concentrate on just Tuscola County area schools. They are Millington, Caro, Frankenmuth, North Branch, Vassar, Reese, USA, Mayville, Cass City, Marlette, Kingston, Owendale-Gagetown, and Akron-Fairgrove. I know for a fact that the Huron County Press and the Huron County Daily Tribune has covered Ubly extensively all season. Congratulations to Ubly, I wish the best of luck the next two weekends.

just admit it you dont like ubly. and the last time i checked north branch is lapeer county and then u still right about them i quess u r saying u r biais then to ubly doing well. even the port huron paper talks and writes columns about ubly and we are not even close to st. clair county

North Branch school district also is in Tuscola County. I like Ubly's team this year. I have even seen them play and believe they will win the state title. Unfortunately, Ubly's school district does not touch Tuscola County. Not to mention, this blog does not have a relationship with any newspaper.

Still talkin' football

First top ten of the year. After Friday's opening games, the TCA released it's first Area Top ten of the young season. In association with four area coaches, representing the four area conferences, along with the sports staff of the TCA, here it is: 1. Millington (1-0) 53 pts (2) 2. Reese (1-0) 52 pts (2) 3. USA (1-0) 45 pts 4. Frankenmuth (1-0) 37 pts (1) 5. Birch Run (1-0) 32 pts (1) 6. Marlette (1-0) 19 pts 7. Ubly (0-1) 17 pts 7. Harbor Beach (1-0) 17 pts 9. Cass City (1-0) 12 pts 10. Garber (1-0) 11 pts All of this will ofcourse settle itself out as the week goes on, but I think the biggest surprise is the fall of Ubly after the opening game loss to USA. Word out of the Thumb is that Bearcat QB Jordan Kaufman broke his collarbone and is out for 7 to 8 weeks, which essentially is the entire season. The Big Game.

Here it is. Well, it's here...the game that everyone around here has been looking forward to all season long. Frankenmuth at Millington. Both teams are 7-0 (6-0 TVC-E) and the Cardinals and the Eagles could not be more evenly matched. They have the exact same number of playoff points (85.714) at this point of the season; both teams blew out Vassar and held the Vulcans without a defensive TD (kickoff return against the Eagles and punt return vs the Cards); both teams blew out Bridgeport and North Branch. And both teams had to play their best to hold off Garber (Muth won 17-7 at Muth while Millington won 20-14 at Garber). One game where things were different was when both played Birch Run. Muth had to use a last minute field goal to win 23-20 while Millington blew out the Panther 45-17, both games played in Birch Run.
